Who we are

The SCS Debating Association is made up of teachers on the Sunshine Coast, who are committed to school debating. The Executive administers the Competition, and welcomes any new members, to hold a position on the Executive, contribute to hosting or organisational responsibilities, or just to contribute their voice.

About the SCS Executive

Meg Dunstan - President

Meg has been part of Sunshine Coast Debating since 2014, when a group of teachers first met at UniSC to discuss the culture of debating on the coast. Since that first meeting, Meg has become President of the SCS Debating Association and leads the executive with passion and purpose.

Meg is passionate about debating, and loves watching young people grow in confidence, communicating their ideas and engaging with social issues. She is very proud of the Competition's kind, competitive and sportsmanlike culture, and her goal is, and has always been, to ensure that all students on the Sunshine Coast have the opportunity to debate and use their voice.

Caitlin Brown - Secretary

Caitlin started as a coach of a junior team in 2016, before taking on hosting responsibilities for the competition. She later joined as a member of the executive and holds the role of Secretary. She is also responsible for the adjudicator roster and communications to participating schools. Caitlin loves being part of debating on the Sunshine Coast and seeing students get out of their comfort zones and learn oral and critical thinking skills that will serve them well in and outside the classroom.
